Natural Diaper Test and Review - Pampers Pure, Honest Company, Seventh Gen, Andy Pandy, Babyganics
hi everyone and welcome back to my channel I'm really glad you're here today I have something a little different for you all I'm gonna be doing a natural diaper showdown so there's a lot of you guys know our family opps to use a lot of more natural products or a little chemical products and when I was a stay-at-home mom of one I use cloth diapers with my first but now that I am a working home on to a cloth diapers don't really align as well with our busy lifestyle so I've opted to use a morenatural a disposable diaper with arrows here and he is now just over a month old and weighs about 11 pounds so we are right smack dab in the middle of the size one diaper sizing so I'm going to be showing five a natural diapers on him and also we're gonna do a wetness test with the five diapers and I'll tell you my opinions of them so let's talk about some natural diapers so the five brands we're gonna be reviewing today our seventh generation honest company baby annex typers pampers pure and Andy Pandy you guys might be wondering what I mean when I say natural diaper and there's really no standard criteria for what makes it Iver more natural than another but sort of the criteria that I use for all of these brands are that they are all chlorine and dioxin free fragrance and synthetic lotion free and also they're free of synthetic dyes and all of these divers have plant-based cores or materials so they're more sustainably sourced and also at least some components of them are biodegradable and I also opted to test brands of diapers at a really throughout the country so all of these with the exception of one are available at both Walmart and Target as well as Whole Foods they're also all available on Amazon and on their respective websites the only brand that is not currently in stores that I did test is Andy Pandy and I did those because they are completely and they're the only dye pads 100% biodegradable sustainably sourced they also have an online option to subscribe where you can save them on a monthly subscription to these diapers so Ithought that they were worth mentioning so the way I'm going to do this test today is that I've added half a cup of water with a little bit of blue dye em to the cups behind each of these diapers I'm gonna test the diapers one at a time by adding all of the liquid to the diaper and then I'm gonna apply a paper towel to the top of the diaper with a book weight on top and then we're gonna check the paper underneath for any leaks and the paper towel on top for any transfer of liquid onto what is hypothetically you know your baby's skin so the first diaper in our test today are the seventh-generation brand diapers now there are currently a few versions of this on the market this is the original version that came out it's just standard unbleached inside and the newer version of this diaper which I think they are trying to phase in completely is the seventh generation diaper with a quilted liner so it's a little bit softer inside now these were the second most affordable diapers all the ones that I tested going through prices in-store and online I found them to average at about 28 cents a diaper so these diapers I use them in both newborn and size one sizes so I feel like I've gotten a pretty good feel for them they are very slim diaper they do open up to a nice size they have a great elastic inside of them and they have these cute prints on the outside little animal prints the thing that I don't like about these diapers is that the feel of them is not very good it almost feels like you're putting a paper bag on your child or your diapering with a paper bag now the new liner inside is a bit softer than the other version of the diaper so I sort of remedies the issue for the inside the diaper but this periphery is still really rough I mean you can hear it it's crunchy it's not very soft and yeah I just don't like the feel of it also for daytime this diaper worked great for us for holding in pee diapers but I did have a few blowouts with it with thepoop diapers and I think that has to do with the way the back of the diaper is and the way that it's sort of short so we had like poop blowouts that went up the top so there was something going on here and that didn't work well for us this diaper we also had leaks with it when we tried to use it as an overnight diaper so it is definitely I think more geared towards daytime diapering with more frequent changes so the next diaper that we're going to review today are the honest company diapers and these can definitely be called the cutest of the natural diapers that are out on the market today they have these amazing super trendy prints and they do change them frequently so I think with that each season they roll out a new print for the diaper so it's cute and it's fun and the one thing that was cool about honest when it first came out is they offered a subscription service so that you could get these diapers in the mail but I feel like that's more obsolete now because Amazon also offers prescriptionservices to diapers and you can choose any brand that you want for that so at the subscription that was once only available with honest I feel like it's not a reason to choose the brand anymore I found that these diapers averaged between 27 and 30 cents each online and so it puts them right in the middle of the price point for all of these natural diapers and but when looking at reviews and in my own experience with honest company diapers I do have a few qualms with the brand the first one being that these diapers do not have a wetness indicator so if you're new to diapering or your diapering a small child it's really helpful to have the wetnessindicator on the front of the diaper because I'm also I feel like these diapers are more slim when they're opened up so they're probably better geared towards a more slender or you know and more slender or a smaller child as opposed to you know the chunkier variety that I have right now I also noticed that if you use this diaper during nap time or over and it gets more heavy or what that the tabs tend to sag in this area which is not such a big deal for a smaller child but when your child is bigger you know the sagging can cause leaking and it also sort of like goes down between their legs and can irritate their legs and if they're walking around or their mobile so the next diapers that we tested of of course this month are the baby Ganic Stivers now these come in at about 23 cents a diaper so they are the most affordable diaper of the five that I tested and also they are among the most affordable of all of the naturaldiaper brands but I did find it interesting that although they are a size one they are quite a bit smaller than the other size one diaper so this is the pampers size one diaper you can just see the size difference in those diapers when you hold them up to one another so with these diapers they do have a wetness indicator which is really nice and the print is really cute and the feel of the diaper is nice it's really soft both inside and out and so it's not irritating to your child's skin but as I mentioned the diaper is small and even you know usually diapers have this double lining on the leg to keep leaks and blowouts contained and the outer one on the baby Ganic Seifer is not very elastic and it's pretty flat and I feel like that um also coupled with the size of the diaper led to a lot of leaks we had leaks with these diapers almost every time we used them on our son and they were leaking out the back leaks out the sides both poop and pee and that's even when we were doing frequent changes in the day so I did not find that this type was very functional now when I looked at reviews online there was a lot of there were a lot of people that had positive things to say about this diaper so it must not leak for everyone but for me I have a whole pack of these that Icouldn't even use because I got so tired of about changing arrows as clothes fromthe leaks these next IPERS that i've reviewed are the Pampers pur diapers they are and just came out this past year and they are pampers version of an Oh diaper completely chlorine fragrance lotion free and I was so so excited to try these and I was really happy with the results that we had with these so we use these in newborn in size 1 for our son they are they have the great size they have a lot of great design features that are made to prevent leak so they go up pretty high on the baby's back they have this great double lining on the leg and they also have this mesh liner inside which is supposed to help keep the baby more dry now I did notice that when if my son took a nap in these diapers or kept it on for a little longer that this mesh would sort of like stick to his skin and I would have to pull it off during the diaper changewhich he never got a rash from that or anything but I just thought it was sort of weird I felt bad like pulling on it but these diapers have super cute prints they do have a wetness indicator which is helpful but these diapers we never had a leak with them in newborn or size one sizes and I use them a lot including overnight so I thought that they worked really great they are incredibly soft so yeah I found that this diaper was highly effective and it comes in at about 35 cents a diaper so it is a little bit more on the expensive side Beck I think you're really getting what you pay for with the Pampers pur diaper because it works well and it's soft and it's not irritating so great great diaper so the last brand of diaper that I'm going to review for you all is the Andy Pandy diaper now these come in non-traditional sizes so they're available in a smallmedium and large and if you code them up to the Pampers pure you'll see that theyare just slightly larger than the Pampers Pierre size one diaper and they come out just about this much more and so you can use them for a little bit longer they are the most expensive coming in at about 40 cents a diaper but they do offer a subscription service on their website so if you find that these are the best cybers for your family and you can subscribe and save about 5 percent one thing I love about thesediapers and a major reason why I included them is that they are 100% biota gradable so they are sourced from sustainable bamboo the diaper is 100% bamboo aside from the inner core and it's fully fully biodegradable which is really really cool on a disposable diaper it has no prints on the diaper but it is incredibly soft these diapersare softer than my cloth diapers they feel almost like velvet and the only thing that's on it is the wetness indicator one and one thing that I love about this diaper is and I spent so much time in the design of the diaper itself like no area was overlooked you can see we've never had a leak in these diapers and I feel like that's due to theincredible design so they have a great inner and outer elastic on the legs that help it to form fit to your child no matter their size and Holden leaks the back of the diaper staved off a lot of blowouts that we could have potentially had and also though this diaper fully opens up really wide in the front in the back and these front tabs overlap with the back tabs of the diaper before the sticky part goes on so you get fullcoverage there's no potential for sagging or opening up with a diaper there so I really really love that one thing that's a little weird is these diapers still use the sticker type of tab it's not a hook and loop tab so you can't go about adjusting them very manytimes because it will lose the stickiness but that was pretty much the only negative I found with this diaper and I think it probably has something to do with making it biodegradable so if you enjoyed this test of these five natural diapers if you have a brand of chemical free or natural diaper that you liked or preferred be sure to leave that in the comments below so that we can check them out I'm gonna link all of these products down below as well so if there's a diaper that you're interested in trying and until next time we will see you in the next one
