5 holiday destinations to do with children
How to find the best family destination? Going on holiday with children requires some accommodation and may lead you to make some changes in the way you travel. If in absolute terms, you can go almost anywhere in the world as a family, travelling with a baby, an infant or a teenager involves some constraints. Some destinations are more suitable for family holidays.
Some criteria to consider for a family trip:
- the climate
- jet lag
- safety and health conditions
- the budget
I can't list the best holiday destinations with the children, it would be too personal. Each family has different desires. For some, holidays go hand in hand with idleness, beach and sun, for others, it will be cities and monuments or nature and the discovery of local fauna and flora.
But here are 5 holiday destinations that will be very nice to do with children.
1 - Experience the adventure of the great outdoors in Quebec
My favorite family destination! Do you like nature and wide open spaces? You're going to love Quebec!
Our Canadian cousins have the great advantage of being a French-speaking country! Of course, speaking Quebec can be disturbing, but it is the ideal destination if you don't speak foreign languages.
2 - Live the city experience in New York
Whatever the season chosen, New York is magical. If you follow us on Instagram, you know that Miss L is a big (big) fan of the movie series Mommy I Missed the Plane. The apple didn't fall far from the lol tree I love it!
NYC is THE destination to do with teenagers. The opportunity to combine cultural discoveries and shopping but also to discover emblematic places: the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Empire State Building, Time Square,...
It is also the ideal place to work on their English!
Food: hot dog and bagel!
Quebec is as pleasant to discover in summer as in winter.
In summer, you can stroll around Montreal, the American-style "city" and the old city of Quebec City, which is more reminiscent of our European cities. Rent a car and drive around Quebec through the forests and lakes of the Laurentians to the Gaspé Peninsula.
In winter, we go on activities in the snow (dog sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, etc.).
Food: poutine and beaver tails!
3 - Return to childhood at Disneyland Paris
No, but you really thought I could make a list of family destinations without mentioning Disneyland Paris?
In Mickey's kingdom, you disconnect, forget your worries and fall back into childhood. On the program: meeting with princesses and cult characters from the Disney universe, family and thrill attractions, parades and shows.
Only one advice: make sure you have good shoes!
Food: NOTHING! No, I'm kidding! The buffet at the Disneyland Hotel (Inventions) is very nice. In less expensive, the Agrabah Café, an oriental buffet is great for eating with the family.
4 - Experience the far north in Lapland
Santa Claus' country is necessarily the family destination for spending the Christmas holidays with the family! Parents and children will marvel at the beauty of the snow-covered landscapes and the northern lights!
You will have the opportunity to practice many winter activities: snowmobiling, sled dogs, reindeer sleds, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing outings, etc.
Food: salmon and reindeer (good OK not really my cup of tea)
5 - Discover the exotic landscapes of Thailand
I have always read that Thailand warmly welcomes families. It is true that every year, I enjoy following the adventures of Alicia who goes with her children.
Discover Asian culture, exotic landscapes, dream beaches, Thailand is the destination that contrasts most with France. A change of scenery is guaranteed. But it is also the trip with the highest number of flight hours and airline tickets are not cheap. You can look at the best offers several months ahead on comparators like Easyvols.
And the kids are going to love the tuk-tuk walks!
Our family travel plans
Of these 5 family destinations, we know 4: I travelled to Quebec in the summer and then in December on a second trip to spend Christmas there and then we went to New York to celebrate New Year's Day. I discovered Lapland during a nice blogtrip for a few days in winter. And of course, Disneyland Paris... but you know that, lol
All that remains is to discover Thailand, a distant destination that my husband would like very much. I have to tell you, before that, I plan to go back to Quebec and certainly to New York! But but but... before that, Scotland in October! And we intend to make the most of it all three of us!
